First, in case you missed it, I’m including the photo of the splint. Yes, that was in my nose. It’s a soft silicone so it didn’t hurt coming out.
Things have felt pretty good since the splints came out. I’m still a little congested; I believe things are still a little swollen inside my nose. The crusting is a little uncomfortable and I am grateful for my twice-daily nose rinse. Rather than a neti pot, I decided to go with the NeilMed sinus rinse bottle (which was recommended by a number of friends). It is easy to use. The first day or so after the splints came out I was still rinsing a bit of blood out but things are mostly clear now.
My nose is a little sore in the tip; I believe it is the place where the stitch was holding the splint in place. I was also experiencing some pain in the left nostril where there was another stitch. It looked like clear nylon. The day after the splints came out I saw a similar piece of stitching rinse into the sink. Yesterday, while I did not see it, the painful stitch was gone.
Last night I started to feel some irritation in the lower part of my nose (where the turbinates were reduced). It wasn’t bad enough to take any Tylenol but it was a little uncomfortable. Today I am feeling a little of that as well.
My next follow up with Dr. Godin is Wednesday afternoon.
